Dewy & Delicious
WHAT KINDA PERSON ARE YOU?
Not sure about you, but me?
I live to eat (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)
One of my friend, or more specifically, my oldest friend; used to work at Whitegrass as the pastry chef. Thus it also began my journey to tasting really good food and alcohol. But ever since Whitegrass got their Michelin star, it became a little more than extravagant to dine there again.
Great news! Whitegrass opened a new sister outlet, called Dew by Whitegrass. It’s a fine-casual dining space x sake bar located right next to Whitegrass at Chjimes.
I was happily invited to try out on the day they opened and holy, I’ve been going back so often that I’ve become the self-proclaimed VIP (૭ 。•̀ u •́。 )૭ I assure you, that was completely unintended. But it became my go-to spot whenever I’m hungry and I’m craving for good food.
So now, everyone at the restaurant knows me. Even though I only got the names of 2/3 of them
(づ_ど) Before they started promoting and inviting PR over, it was a pretty good spot to hang out with friends too. But unfortunately, I couldn’t gatekeep this address forever (,,>﹏<,,)
Dew has become a place for events. I’ve celebrated at least 3 birthdays here, including my own (∩˃o˂∩)♡
I could almost say that I’ve already tried everything on the menu (,,>﹏<,,) Completely unintended though. But this just shows how yummy the food is. So here goes my review
Location: ✦✦✦✦✦
It’s located at Chjimes, super accessible, right opposite City Hall / Raffles City
Food / Alcohol: ✦✦✦✦✦
You might call it bias because I’ve tried almost everything, but really- there’s no disappointments. Alcohol wise, they have an extensive list of sakes / umeshus and even wines. But of course, I love their cocktails as well. To be fair on this point, all of them knows me well enough to know my alcohol palette so whatever bespoke cocktail they serve is always x1000 ⋆.˚ ᡣ𐭩 .𖥔˚
Price: ✦✦✦✦✧
Price point, it’s on the pricey side. Dew is meant to be a bar/semi-fine dining or snacking. A place for you to chill with friends. So the food portion are a little smaller than usual. That’s why you might need to order a little more than usual which adds up on your bill.
I will let the pictures do the speaking…
This post is an accumulation of countless visits to Dew (⸝⸝⸝╸w╺⸝⸝⸝)
For starters
Here we have some of my favorites! The orange potion is a Whitegrass Little Tokyo cocktail. It’s concoction of Sake/Yuzushu/Aperol. Served in mini sake cups, it’s super refreshing and a great way to start with sharing entrées:
Going clockwise, the first one is Prosciutto on sesame brioche. THE BREAD IS FREAKING AMAZING. For someone who doesn’t like tomatoes, a bite of the well combined flavour was great, it helps to lighten the cheese and gave it a refreshing touch.
Moving on to the potato bombs, anchovy flavoured. It’s crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. If you’re not careful, the bowl depletes really quickly before you know it.
And the bottom middle dish, Cheese Choux Puffs. Eatting them while they are still warm is the best. The pepper sparkled around it adds a different touch, making this supposedly-dessert dish tasting rather savory.
Hamachi on the way
Love the mix with radish that increases the crunch on every bite.
Yuzu Kosho Seaweed Pasta
Goodness, there’s something about the sauce that always makes me want to lick the plate clean ( ≧ᗜ≦)
It comes with different options too! You can opt for prosciutto if you don’t like salmon.
Hokkaido Pearls
Fragrant garlic soy dips that makes it even better. It’s more interesting that the mushroom slices you see, are actually raw and uncooked!
Daily Special: Spicy Kimchi Pasta
I think I broke the record on this ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻) The sauce was so good that I begged for pieces of bread and wiped the bowl clean!
The staffs here are super thoughtful! They know that I come so often that the chef would make some daily specials for me!
I forgot the name for this one, but it was some sort of wagyu taco
Desserts/Drinks
There’s only 2 items on their dessert menu and I tried them both on the first day of their opening. Of course I instantly took a liking to one of them and asked for a second serving (ෆ˙u˙ෆ)♡
Sake Kasu on the left and homemade cheesecake with wine sauce on the left, accompanied by a Teh Tarik Martini.
I definitely love the cheesecake. It’s a must-order item whenever I visit even though I think it’s been more than 10 times since I’ve been to Dew since it’s opening in July 2023 (づ๑•u•๑)づ♡
Seasonal Creations: Gingerbread Ice Cream
If I remembered correctly, it was an extra item on their menu during the year end festive season. Gingerbread flavour was subtle.
Yup, voila! Clearly, you can see all sorts of drinks that’s available!
I probably had more, but I forgot to take a photo of them. Honestly, sometimes I’m a little clueless about the alcohol that I’m drinking. But the staffs are always ready to share! It’s almost like a sharing session and learn about the different sorts of alcohol. I’ve moved past the age where I just wanna be drunk.
Strangely as well, as I got older, my body becomes easily sensitive with alcohol hangovers. But I would never get massive headache/hangover whenever I over-drink at Dew. So the quality of the alcohol matters! A lot!
All in all, you can definitely tell, I’m 10000% bias when it comes to dining at Dew!
